Making movie clips run Instantly ?

    Hi,

How can we get our movie clips to run intantly with almost no download time in the same way as it does with the 'Stacy' video on www.bluevoda.com

Take a look at www.saulfarm.com/Indie.html and you see that the clip runs nothing like the one on the Blue Voda page.

We would like to put several clips onto one page but the upload and dowload time would be horrendous if we put them up like the single clip on our page above.

Please take a look and advise how we can do it like the BV site.

    Thanks,

    Rob

Right click on the insert box (windows media player, real, etc.), go to properties and you can select autoplay. When the page opens the video should play automatically.

    Hope this helps

One other comment. I have a bunch of video on our site and found it much easier - particularly in publishing time - to list the videos as a link to an uploaded video (through FTP manager). It also helped when I wanted to add addional videos - simply uploaded the video and added a link to the page.

The video files are .wmv, average about two minutes and are about 6 or 7 meg in size.

Take a look at the page - maybe this will help as wells.

        Hi,

        Thanks for your response.

It is not making the movies run automatically its the speed and the ease in which they run which is the problem. I don't know if you compared the clip on our page to the one on the www.bluevoda.com page Most sites nowadays have movies clips which run smoothly and crisply from the moment they are clicked on or from the moment they start if set to play automatically. I hope this is a bit clearer and apologize for not being clearer before.

        Many thanks,

          Hi Steve,

Just taken a look at your site. your movies are a good size and load and run quickly. It seems a good idea to have links from the main site to a page with the videos on. How did you do this and how is it different from just using FTP to publish the clips up to the page on you site which has the original link, except that lots of links on one page can all be published to a seperate page with a particular clip on it rather than having to upload all the clips again each time you add a new one a page. Are therefore all the clips being liked to all on their own individual page ? And lastly do you know how the clip on the Blue Voda page was put up to run as it does (I'm sure someone on the BV taem must know).

          Thanks again,

I believe the blue voda clip is a swf file ... flash ... I think that is the difference ....

              Rob,

Took video - saved as .wmv file

Moved that file to public_html usinf FTP manager in BlueVoda

Linked to the file in test that defined video - target is _self - so it opens in a new window

Wanted to reference a bunch of videos from the same page ans also perhaps reference the same video from a different page

I am no expert - but this works well for us

I think BlueVoda uses a swf file - know little of this format

              I hope this helps

              Take care

                  Thanks Steve and LadyEye,

Your comments are a great help.

Does one just need to buy Flash to create a Flash movie, or is there any free/shareware or other software to do it.

Shall have a go too, to put up clip as .wmv file.

                  Regards,

You may have got to this stage, but is a good bit of info on sizing vid's
                    Turn up the sound.

                    Good luck.

Don't buy Flash. Save a hundred bucks. Within Flash is Sorensen Squeeze which is the compression program for taking video and compressing it into Flash, Real or Windows Media. SS is a bit pricy you might think, but it is foolproof and you will use it a lot if you are going to be working with much video. I use it every day without a hitch. Go to www.e-webvid.com to get a look at some of my clips and see if that is what you are looking for.

                        Hi Dayjack,

                        Just read your posting.

The clips on your site are excellent and just what we need. How do we go about getting Sorensen Squeeze.

                        Thanks,
