installing sounds into a web site

I want to insert some auditory data ( sounds of words, pronunciations of foreign words, e.g.) into my web site. I have the .wav files ready to insert. The edit bar shows icons and procedures for text and graphics but not for sounds.
What procedure must I follow to install sounds into my web site?
