    Use of music on site

    Hello to all,

I've been building a site with BV for about a month now. I've been searching through posts for answers to questions, and this is the first time I'm stumped and posting myself.

My question is about the legal use of copyrighted music. If I have purchased the music, intend to only stream it (not downloadable), and am featuring it with intent of producing sales through Amazon affiliation, is it illegal to include on my pages?

    Any insight greatly appreciated,

    Mike

My opinion, and that is all it is because I'm not an expert on this matter,
is that you would need a license to stream.

Thanks Brad, opinions are welcome! More than I have now. I guess what really has me confused is the fact that on file (WMA)properties, Media usage rights, "File is not protected" appears on many, not on others. Unprotected ones will play on my site, protected ones won't. Is this an implied permission?

Dazed and Confused (do I need permission to use that?),

Hi Mwalsh.... WMA is a protected file...basically saying you would need permission from the writer or owner of that song to use... File sharing is legal in the US.. according to a Federal Court... It's all such a cloudy issue..who's suing who and what's legal... Good Luck ... Doug

              Thanks Doug!

I have been reading all I can find, ASCAP, etc., and you are right, it's cloudy as hell!

              Still pondering,
