Page width and hight

Hello!
Which width and hight do you recomend to reach the best visitor´s view when they have different screen configurations (800x600, 1024X..., etc...)?

The height can be anything, depending on the volume of the content.
Many will recommend 800 wide as 20% of all users still use 800 x 600 resolutions.
Many will use 1000 wide instead. I'm one of them. The 20% should get a wakeup call. lol

As Tom says, lots of opinions here about what width is best.And as he says maybe 80% of viewers will be able to view a 1000 wide site, and about 20% will have to side scroll unless you build at 800.
Many build to 1000, but have only non-critical info in the area over 800 so that all potential customers will be able to learn and more importantly purchase without having to side scroll.
Although it may be true that the other 20% should get a wake up call, my feeling is this: If I want those 20 out of every 100 visitors to become my customers, I want to make it as easy as possible for that to happen.
