Formatting text inside "TextArea"

I'm new to this, trying to realize my vision of this webpage where I have a lot of text inside a "TextArea" (or at least i want the text to appear in a box with scroll bars). But then I want to make some of the text bold, some italic etc. and I just can't get how to change just a part of it.

I found the View -> Page HTML thingie but didn't know if that's where I should be looking.

Can you help me please?

Ok, so I played around a little and I guess I should use iframes instead. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to make all the page content appear in the iframe (index page with menu bar stays while iframe content changes by clicking on menu text).
