i need help with pictures and buttons

could anyone help me with this i want to make galleries by placing on the home page from each gallerie one photo of each then the viewer can click on the photo and go into that particular gallerie.
this is my first day at this crack but have got a bit stuck if anyone could help me it would be amazing

1) Log into your control panel.
2) Click on the Blue smily face on the bottom right.
3) Install copper mine photo gallery
