Creating my own Template issue

I created a New Template to replace my old template. I did every thing the same way as I did when I built my first one. I saved it as a template. When I went to open the New Template this is what it said - "An attempt was made to access Edit Button past it's end." The New Template was saved under a totally different name than the first one but even my original website template is not showing up to choose from. Please help explain to me what this means and how to fix it. I have 10 more pages to create for my website and I don't want to build every page from scratch.
