favicon

I have tried putting the favicon.ico file in the public_html folder with out any success.
When I used to use a different site builder I could do this with ease, but for some reason I am having trouble?

I have entered the proper code between both head tags. I have noticed that the favicon DOES show in the history and in my favorites, but does not show when i enter www.yarpool.com in neither firefox nor IE?

It shows in IE as well.

I use favicons myself, and in my experience they can take up to 24 hours to be visible.

Thanks guys.
When I mouse over the blank page in the browser (you know the littele page that shows when there is no favicon. I get this message "this website does not provide identity information. your connection to this website is not encrypted? are these bad ?
Also, when I sign up on my site, the confirmation email is sent to my spam box?
