    Duplicate items in my public.htlm

Thank to the help I received here I was able to publish a tentative home page as well as 2 other linked pages and a photo.
The home page has a logo for background, a color logo, a title text, and a rotating text, saved as .gif, and 2 menus, saved as .htlm. I saved those items as a template and used it for the additional pages.
Now, looking at the public.htlm folder, I notice that the .gif items are being duplicated for each page (the .htlm menus are not !!), adding the numbers -01 and 02 to the original names.
My site will have easily 200 pages, one for each product we offer, so this duplication can end using a lot of space.
Is it the way the system works or am I making some mistake? Please advise.

Thanks David for your rush reply (as usual)

I asked that because I was puzzled by the fact that I have not edited the .gif images after I approved them. I am just using exactly the same images in different pages, even in the same position.
Now, if it does not hurt, I will not worry about any longer.
