custom template with slow upload speed

I am new to this so apologies if this is a silly question.
I have created my own custom template made up of lots of tiny square shapes which I have grouped together and locked. When I published my page and viewed in as a webpage it took a long time to load up as each square was loading up individually, instead of as a group. Does anyone know a way to group them together so as it opens as one template/design when viewed online?
