How to Upload FLV videos to your website.

Hey all

I was trying to find how to upload flv file to my site, but didn't find much info on here. I also noticed that few other people were looking for the same thing. Hopefully this helps some of you guys.

1. You need to download jw player
2. unzip jw player and FTP to your public_html folder.
3. You need a video converter to convert your file into a flv file. I belive there's a free one called Total Video Converter.
4. Make a folder in your public_html called video
5. ftp your flv file into your public_html/video folder
6. goto jw player website and use the Wizzard to get your code.

• in the wizzard section select "flv player with a single video"
• in embeded paramters point to the jw media player folder which should be http://www.yourwebsite.com/mediaplay...ayer-viral.swf
• In file properties under file point to where the file is, which should be http://www.yourwebsite.com/video/videoname.flv
• You can play around with other settings there to your liking.
• If everything is good you should be able to review your video on the jw website.
• You will see the code underneath the video. copy and paste into notepad and save as index.html
• ftp into your public_html/video folder
• if that doesn't work you can use the embeded code instead.

Make sure that the file swfobject.js is located in the same folder as your videos.

Thanks a lot !! That's a really good tip. I'll be trying it out later!
It will help a lot of people....
One question: will this work as effectively with longer videos eg. more than 2 or 3 minutes?

Yes it will. I have few long videos on mine. No problems at all.

Hello! Thanks for sharing this useful information. To display FLV on web page, you just need a web-based FLV player. You can make one in Adobe Flash CS3, or just use a pre-made one like Moyea Web Player, which is a quick way to generate Flash video player and embed code for website.

just wanted to thank you once again for the explanation....tried it last night & worked a dream!! You don't know how long I've been trying to do this (for free, naturally!)
