Can I place many photos on one webpage fro downloading?

I have a log in area on my website and would like to use it for parents to see and get photos of their kids at school. I obviously don't want this to be for the public hence they need to be on one page. but my main question is :- I have a lot of photos so how to I put them on one page for the parents to download, that is without the page being too too heavy to open!!?

    Thank you

What I would do is create a page with these photos, make sure they are optimised for faster page loading. Then have a download link for the images in their orginal format. As you've said these will be heavy, so next to the download link put the size of the file along side ie 10mb or 20mb (whatever)

On your PC, if you have a folder with all the pictures, I would zip it up and ftp it.

A possible link could look like http://www.mydomain.com/mr_and_mrs_smith.zip

    or

http://www.mydomain.com/pictures/mr_and_smith.zip The difference being 'pictures' where you can create a new a sub folder specifically for your pictures.

If you need anymore help come back.

Another way of doing it is to create a special folder in public_html and name it say: "Private_Family_Photos"

Under this folder you can create as many sub-folders as you want for each album.

You can either Password Protect this folder from your cpanel and provide your Family Members with the link to the Folder with the password or if you do not want it password protected,
you can. Just email all your family members the url to the folder.

This way only family members with the "Url" will know how to access the Albums.

Speaking of photo's, why do mine keep disappearing.........I lock the page.....but when I open it, some of the pics have gone, only an outline with a message, "image not found"......

Usually this happens if you change the physical location of the photo/file after you have made and saved the page.
"Locking" keeps the elements from moving on the BV page. I has nothing to do with the path to your files/photos.

Re-insert them. Then don't move its source. Otherwise you'll have the same problem.

Re: Can I place many photos on one webpage fro downloading?

I find it easier to insert folders inside of your Images folder (in the web builder) that contain all images you are going to insert into your web pages and leave them there.

Using the handles does NOT change the electronic size.

Carbon Terry, I went to that site, fantastic, really tells me a lot, I'll read it over a couple of times........
Still have one question, what's the trick to bring up a pic in normal size? Not blown up so big............Therefore, I don't have a screw around with resizing it as much......thanks again.....

                              Normal size????
The photos have to be "Normal Size" when you put them on the page.
                              That means you will have to resize all. :>}
