Adding a soft copy file for downloading

Hi folks, I want to have a PDF file available for download on a web page, the associated icon would be visible on the page or a link would send you to the appropriate area. Do I use the FTP option on bv to achieve this and how do I link to the specific page? Your advice is appreciated. Thanks

upload file to ftp.
link to it using text or image, eg www.urdomain.com/urdocument.pdf
