My template is now blank....

I created a template page (boxes with HTML codes, which is a wonderful wonderful tip for future changes). I saved this page as a template. When I try to create a new page from template, a blank page comes up. I have done this before and it has worked, can't figure out why it won't this time. Also when I get to the page to choose my template, the name is there but it doesn't show anything.
