Which file ext is best for using vid in web page

I have a short vid (3 mins) which I want to incorporate on my site...
Generally flash seems to be the preferred software - is this good for BV -
if so which of the 2 ext. do we use -
I see I have 2 options in my conversion software
flv or swf.
Please advice.

Create both, experiment with both using PREVIEW.

Most "videos" are FLV, whereas Headers, slideshows, and other "elements" are SWF.

I tested on preview and clearly flash swf was best - however I have now published - on the web page it does not show.

please assist.

You have properly uploaded the SWF file independently to the server?
You are using the proper link to that file in the BV Flash Box?
You have fully loaded the new page in your browser?
You are SURE your browser is not caching?

And, lastly, you are sure you have updated your Flash Player on your system so WHATEVER browser you are using (you should always "proof" your site using multiple browsers) is capable of playing the latest format of a Flash Video file?
