How do I create a semitransparent text box?

I would like to design pages where a text box appears semitransparent over a background picture. The settings for background color do not seem to allow for that, only for a color of choice or transparent. Does anyone know how to do it?

3-Layers: Use a SHAPE to create a semi-transparent box over your image (choose color of Shape and adjust transparency), and then layer on top a Textbox with the defaulted transparent background.
