Shadowing Problem on Image

I've inserted a transparent background GIF image and when I apply the shadow effect a shadow appears across the base of the image as well as where it is supposed to. I've tried varying the intensity etc of the shadow but to no avail. Any ideas?

Any transparent, semi-transparent, or transparent background GIF or PNG image will not allow EDGE SHADOW to be applied, as there is no uniform contrasting edge by definition.

GIF and PNG [vector] images with transparent backgrounds may, however, be capable of adding a REFLECTION attribute despite EDGE SHADOW not being applicable.
