intro page ..how

how do i keep my index page as my front page etc but add an intro page first ? i presume i change the name as index for the intro and than change front page to say front page yes? then do i just upload or publish both and wiil it sort its self out
secondly if i want to say have a skip intro do i add a link to front page and is that it?

intro = index.html
front = 2nd html page

link intro to front in the normal way...
Skip intro link is the same as the link to front.......
