Centre and background help needed

OK, so I am in the process of resizing my site to 800 as it was 1024 and people complained about the scrolling thing.

I have resized most of the pages and have them centered now but I have run into a new problem. The page looks like it is floating on a white background. I want a white background behind my site but I would like a different colour on both sides to frame it better.

I can't seem to get this issue solved.

Create a rectangle, 800 wide, white, and put it behind your page. Now add a background colour (page propertis - background - and choose color). You will get the effect you want. Also center your pages, so the page (and the white rectangle) will be centered and the background color will be all around your page

Right click on the white background, go to page properties and select a new colour for your background. You can set a custom colour by using the custom colour choice.
