is it possible to have an auction type sale on my site or would it just be a contact page and i would see who gave the highest bid? or is there a better way, just thought i mght place an item up for action for say a week

Check out PHPAuction in Fantastico - maybe that will do the trick.

Just typed auction software in to Google, and there is loads out there.
