    counters please help

    Please help!!! I have a counter that I just put on my website. It is not going where I want it and now I can't even delete it. I cannot access their help page because they never sent me my ID and Password. What a mess. I got it from website stats counters. Can anyone help? www.shownoff.net

    Re: counters please help

    This is what your page HTML looks like (the top part, not the whole page!), and I've highlighted the counter script you need to delete manually.

    </DIV>
    <IMG src="bv01007.gif" width="427" height="44" align="top" style="position:absolute;left:307px;top:103px;widt h:427px;height:44px;z-index:1">

    var agt=navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase();
    p='http';
    if((location.href.substr(0,6)=='https:')||(locatio n.href.substr(0,6)=='HTTPS:')) {p='https';} data = '&r=' + escape(document.referrer) + '&n=' + escape(navigator.userAgent) + '&p=' + escape(navigator.userAgent)
    if(navigator.userAgent.substring(0,1)>'3') {data = data + '&sd=' + screen.colorDepth + '&sw=' + escape(screen.width+ 'x'+screen.height)};
    document.write('<a href="

    document.write('<img border=0 hspace=0 '+'vspace=0 src="

    PS: The use of "Hit Counters" is not recommended throughout the VodaHost Forum, for MANY reasons, and unfortunately, you discovered first hand one of them.

            I copied the code from the counter website, went to my index page and pasted it in the HTML page. I entered it under bottom of page, but it came up at the top of the page (in my title), so I'm not sure if what I did put it there or if the counter website automatically put it there. When I go back to where I put it, it's not there. If I go to the top like you said and I highlight the section that you said to delete...I am not given an option to delete it (delete function is not highlighted).

              Re: counters please help

              Without going into a lot of detail which I am assuming will confuse you to no end, it might be simpler and less time consuming to simply re-do your index page (name it index, of course) and republish, which will overwrite the earlier flawed version completely. This eliminates the need for you to experiment with FTP tools and the risk of deleting files inadvertantly.

              To easily and quickly *******te your page, use the Copy and Paste icons in the top of the toolbar in BV, and NOT Copy/Paste via either right-click or under Edit in the toolbar. By using this tool, when you actually Paste items, they will automatically set themselves in exactly the same position they were copied from - saving you a huge amount of time.

              * As long as you are reconstructing your page, remember that the Last item added is the First item to populate....so start "Pasting" in reverse order as much as possible, making your Header/Logo the last item to be added: this way, when visitors come to your site, the Header/Logo is the first thing they see while waiting for the rest of the page to load.....

                Go in page HTML. If you see the code in blue color, it means you have added it in some of the tags. So start clicking: Start of Page, Between Head etc. When you find it, copy it and then delete it. Click ok. Now, back in the page, insert a HTML box in your page. Make it small. Double click it and paste the counter code in there. Place the box where you want it to appear on your page.

                  LOL!
                  Bravo, General Naval! You always seem to make it so simple! Have you noticed that I have made some improvement in keeping it short?

                  (So...do you think the counter will stay on the site after all? Hmmm.)

                    Yes Vasili, and i must say that it is MUCH better. Clear, step by step instructions are the best help to the user that has the problem.

                      Re: counters please help

                      Thank you everyone! The code does not show up in any of the tags, that is where my confusion comes in. I had placed it in the tag for bottom of page, but it's no longer there. I guess I will just re create my index page.
