Getting tables to work right

I have been reading a bunch about using the tables for the layout of your site but I am having a heck of a time getting the tables to size properly. Every time I move one of the lines to resize a particular cell, it drags the adjoining cells along side with it...any ideas? I have tried locking just one cell but this just locks the whole table.

I am also trying to set up a table that has say two cells on the right side and three cells on the left side or any combo thereof. Any one who has had success using the tables for this care to chime in?

The only way I can use tables on BV and have them do what I want - is to NOT use the table feature within BV, but to make my table in html and add it in an html box.

You do not need to use table in BlueVoda , it is only an option, BlueVoda auto creates tables as you design your page.

Now that I have been ooking nto doing this I have been reading on some web design wistes that using tables is a bad idea as far as search engines go. Has anyone else heard of this?

Hi Moto,

I'm using tables for my page content. Tables keeps things together and (I might be wrong) I get the feeling it loads quicker than shapes.

Sizing the tables is really very easy. Here is the trick:

1. Create your table, but create one more row and one more column than is required. Say for example you need a 4 column table with 6 rows. You then create one with 5 columns and 7 rows.
2. Position the top-left corner of the table in the precise location you want it.
3. Size column 1 first then column 2, then 3 and then 4. Do not worry about column 5 for now.
4. Now size row 1, then 2, then 3, etc.
5. Once you are happy with the table, delete column 5 and row 7 (in this example).

Note. If you later want to resize the columns and rows again, then firts insert an extra column on the right and an extra row at the bottom.
Then resize the table and finally delete those extra column and row again.
