    Cannot Publish Edited Page

It has been some time since I built my site, so suffice it to say that I am a bit rusty. I had to edit some of my pages, and now cannot get the updated pages to publish. I edited my original pages, saved them, then published. I get a message "successfully published" but when I view the site, it still shows my old pages. I emailed support and was told to clear the cache, and temp files, which I had already done, but cleared again and restarted my computer. Still didn't work. Then I tried to delete the file from the server, check the site to see if the page is gone and, yes, it was (showing error 404). Now when I try to republish, or use FTP, my page still doesn't show. I can see the file on the server, but it doesn't show on the web. Although the page is being saved as a bv file, it is supposed to convert to html, but it doesn't appear that that is happening. I even tried saving with an .html ext, but that doesn't work. I'm at a loss, totally.

Please publish again and post here the URL. Someone of us will take a look and post here a screenshot for you to see if this the updated page or not.

.bvp files on the server can cause no conflict. If Patti is getting a "Succesfully Published" message, then it is either a cache issue or publishing on a wrong folder or with a wrong name.

There is no conflict, her browser is clogged up. This happens sometimes when you preview a page locally, all changes are published.

              Re: Cannot Publish Edited Page

Thanks for your help, so far. Once I publish a page, then connect via FTP, what should my published page icon look like? The reason I'm asking is that all of my "working" pages appear to have an ie icon. The page that I published, that's not appearing on the web has a bv icon. I thought that once published, it would convert automatically to an internet icon, the way my other pages appear. I seem to recall that naming/saving pages, you simply name the page and don't add an extension, but save as a bv file, then it converts once published. Apparently I'm missing something? Thanks.

                Re: Cannot Publish Edited Page

Hi, you just save each page as IE: about_us or admin or contact_us all in lower case & no extensions. BV will do the rest & save it as a BV file on your machine & when you publish, it will convert to a html extension automatically.

                Good luck

                Chris
PS. the file should have a html at the end when viewed in ftp
                Regards Chris.

                  Re: Cannot Publish Edited Page

Forgive me all... for wasting your time. I confessed in my first post that it had been over a year since I built and published my site and had not been using BV. The only thing I was doing wrong, was when attempting to publish each edited page, I let it go to my public file where it defaulted to instead of adding the /and extension for the correct folder. My apologies. The site is up and running once again without the forum (www.winetastingatyourhome.com) I had no idea that a forum could get "attacked" with all the spam (porn, gambling, etc.) I'm glad it's gone! BV is such a fabulous program... obviously I just need to use it more so I don't forget how!
