  • Password protect page...

    Hi...

I want to have a 'log in' page so that users can change their details... I know how to use to CPanel password protect a directory... but I was wondering whether I could download some code that get the 'log in' details from a database... so that i can make a nice neat log in page for my clients...

What I thought would be the best solution, is if I have a form that has a PHP action... and it checks the database and compares the user name and password. Does anyone know where I can get a log in script?

    Thank you very much,
    Chris

        Re: Password protect page...

Thought this was the best place to ask this question.

I am not looking for a password protected page at present.

But I am looking at protecting the website from being copied and exploited by scam artists.

Is there a way to invoke a script that will cause each page to not be copied and pasted? A script notice that says this website is protected by copyright, or that the source code is hidden?

        Thank you

          Re: Password protect page...

          Hey Robert-
There is no real way to protect a page source from being copied.

          You can however put in the head portion of the page a warning that will not appear on the page but only in the source. To do so Copy the following;

<!--- This page is copy righted and if found reproduced- will be prosecuted--------->
You can edit to suit you needs/preference.
The <! ---> means that it will not show up on the page- only in the page source.

Thats about all you can do.

          PHP- is a blast!

            Re: Password protect page...

            Andy:

You said there is no way to do as I had asked about.

Below is a more direct approach to what I am trying to accomplish...

HTMLBlock - HTML Encryption and Website Security Application Hits: 877
Hide your source code by, encrypting HTML, PHP, ASP, XHTML, JSP, SHTML files. Protect your images and graphics on your site by adding anti-copy to your pages. Stop spam in your emails by using the HTMLBlock anonymous email sender. HTML encryption is a method used to protect your website content and source code in JavaScript and Hex Code. Anyone can view the source code of a webpage, but with the use of HTML Block it encrypts your source code into unreadable code. Which cannot be stolen, neither edited. If you have not got encrypted WebPages you are at a very high risk of your WebPages design and layout being stolen. Now many people say you can't protect your source code in anyway. Well there are wrong now, as a team of experts have developed a special plug-in which you install on your server which stop's other stealing your code, design and images, this amazing plug-in can only be found at HTML Block.

If I use the above method. Can this method be created using BV as the page builder or will I have to use another form of creating the website?

              Andy:
Basically encrypt the source as seen below into the encryption code seen at bottom.
So when you try to view the actual source code in the first section you will get a new code
represents the actual code as seen in the second bit of code.

You can still use BV. Just publish your page normally, then download the html code generated, encrypt it and then upload it again.

                  Naval:

After I publish the original site and download the html from the site, then create the encrypted code and re-publish the page using the encrypted code.

Will I need to save the encrypted code as a separate folder in BV?

I would basically still need the original code created as an index.html
so as to be able to make changes when necessary in the original code then when published re download the html then encrypt the html and re publish each new change correct?

Or will I still be able to work inside the newly constructed encrypted code to make the added changes, after I ran a decypher?

Yes, because that can be only uploaded usinf FTP or File Manager, so you must first save it on your computer.

No, you cannot work with the encrypted code.

Howecer, this doesn't seem to be really encrypted code, it just seems to be the html coded for each character (letter or tag symbol)

                      Thank you Naval:

Was not sure on how it would be created and you have set me to a new standard.

Since many of the options which will be on the website will have sensitive data being sent back and forth within the network created from with in the Martech Inc page I needed to have a way to encrypt the source code so it was unable to be viewed as well.

Working on a very huge network that I believe you in your wise abilities will be of great value in its concepts when I am creating the particulars.

                      Thanks again!!!
