    Re: Previewing in browser

    Ok.. re-capping..

We have a fresh download and install from the source vodahost.com
We are using IE7 set to default settings.
We open BV pages, in BV program and click the Preview button, but get an error message.
BV is not recognizing IE.. it seems to me.. when BV page is previewed, BV talks to your browser and asks it to display the page in html.

Can you open your IE options, advanced tab, under security make sure the selection 'allow active content to run on files in my computer' is checked..??
If so, the only thing that can be done is to Uninstall BV (do it from the control panel add remove programs, then re-install it).

Hi Carlos and thanks for all the trouble you are going to its appreciated.
I was thinking myself of uninstalling BV; but would I loose all my files?
I know I can retrieve everything from my FTP but that seems a little daunting.

No, you shouldnt lose any files.. just to be in the safe side, either copy or move your BV files in a folder you create on your desktop and then after reinstalling BV just take them back to the original place where you want to keep them.. In any case, uninstalling deals only with program and system files and shouldnt affect your new pages that you created in Blue Voda as web pages.

I guess a reinstall would be in order now.. just remember to uninstall using control panel.. sometimes if the uninstall is not done correctly it affects the re-installation.. Lets see how that goes.

                    Hi Carlos if you are there;

Uninstalled BV today. Reinstalled BV. Opened one of my pages and tried to preview; but still the same error message; problem must be with the files themselves I'm thinking.

                      Re: Previewing in browser

                      No...it's IE7, unfortunately.
Next time you re-install BV, simply install it over the previous copy on your system....nothing is lost, and everything is overwritten properly. When you un-install, many of thge original settings used to configure your previous BV files/pages will need to be reset/resaved before they will operate seamlessly.

If possible (and if you are game - at this juncture, some are not) you may wish reconsidering IE7 and return to Microsoft.com to reload IE6 which is still supported and standard for more than 97% of all applications until August 2007 according to releases. It is still your choice, but so you know, even computers sold up to June 2007 will still be presented with IE6.

                      * More about the pros and cons of IE7 are available in the VodaTalk Reviews section....

PS: Make sure your system is updated with the current Java(Sun) settings and has been scanned for available MS Updates post-SP3. Pay particular attention to ActiveX and Java controls.

ok; first I have loaded IE6; the problem still exists. So gone back to IE7.

I can save and publish pages without any problem whatsoever. I just cannot preview via browser; it come with an error message 'unexpected file'. Today I opened a blank page and put a graphic on it and tried to preview, but with the same error again.

Hi Richard.. can you please email me one of the pages your saved..? let me have a look to see if it is the actual file, program or IE..

I have IE7 one one pc and IE6 on another and they both talk to BV nicely.. even thought IE7 is still a ****ty piece of work, but it has no issues with BV.

                            Email me here.

I honestly now think it is to do with your registry.. but lets try this first.. there's a solution to every problem.. we'll fix this.
