  • adding winzip on web site to down load selected files

Can I add winzip function to my site "leaseown.org" so user could choose multiple files, zip them, and batch download to user's computer?

    Roger,

There are programs out there that make a file a self extracting file, I believe this is a utility in the paid version of winzip. I have 20 windows open right now and not gonna go check, but if you have winzip, and you zip a file, see if it doesnt have the option to make it self extracting. I know for sure winrar has one, which i prefer to use.

Karen, thanks for your suggestion. I'm trying to use the zip feature to batch download a series of selected files so self extracting each file may not do it.

I don't know of any such solution. One solution for your case would be that of creating a script that would allow visitors to select the files they want, rearrange them, and then by clicking on a "Send" button, have them automatically emailed as attachments to their own email address.

Winzip does make files self extracting. Heres a how to

          http://www.ehow.com/how_8465_make-self-extracting.html

It first compresses the file, then makes it an .exe to auto uncompress it upon download. You could make each file its own zip, and do it that way as well. The downloader then doesnt need to have winzip, windows will do it when they click on it.

Roger doesn't need to make self extracting or exe files on his computer. He needs to be able to allow the visitor, to select some of the files he has uploaded on his site, BUNDLE (zip) them ON THE SITE, and then download them as a unique package. I DO NOT KNOW(this doesn't mean it doesn't exist) of ANY UTILITY to allow such ON TH SERVER operations.

                    Naval,

I know, I posted a link to that, but in the interim, he could also UPLOAD the self extracting files to his site to be downloaded as well in the interim.

If he had a shopping cart, a shopping cart type system would allow this as well, and there is software to do it, I just dont know what its called, but I did find one, and linked him to it. Im sure Im just missing an obvious word to run a search for, but for the life of me, I cant find it. Closest I got was the second link to the software that supposedly allows it by its description.
