    Re: Explorer problem please help

try changing the width to 800
people using a smaller screen than the one your using won't display the page the same way you are. i seems to me that all the pages should be 800 width and as long as you need it to be
try it and see how it works out

You may be building at 1024 - but I think you are possible centering 1024 in the BV page - when you want to build starting the page all the way to the left - and setting your guidelines at the 800 or 1000 or 1024 and stay within them. It looks here like you might have not been doing that.

And if you want to build it to 1024, you'll get about 80-85% of the people - as 15-20% are on the 800 width browser still. I do built at about 1000 - but for universal use, you might want to stick to 800.

Hi, Bethers gave a nice tip above follow it carefully.

From my side, I would tell you that you have to know that each browser read the html codes differently, specialy between FireFox and Explorer.

So what I suggest is, install as much as browser you can find in your machine, when you preview your page, try all of them, then if you find that any issue with any of them, so you will know that there is a conflict in your html which will provide some issues for some viewers that are using such a browser.

          Hello Beth

Ive build my site within the guide settings of
          1024 width and 768 height
And in the preview everything is perfect
The problem is that my site index page only
          Comes in 2 parts
The centered part and a right below part
          That doesnt make sence:(
Couse the rest of the pages are working fine
And i used the same settings

You have a code somewhere in that page that is missing or has a bad tag. I suggest you start taking elements out of the page until you find which one you coded incorrectly - good chance you are missing a closing > tag somewhere - and that will cause this.

              Did you place this:
              <META HTTP-EQUIV="Pragma" CONTENT="no-cache">

IF so- I think it is in the wrong place. It is within the style portion of the css code, and it is only on the index page which is causing the problem.

In Firefox- it displays well. In IX6 the nav buttons don't display. In IE7 it is totally screwed up.

As beth said- there is some bit of code that was altered or incompatible.

Sometimes, it is best to s**** and re-do, rather than spin wheels. When re-doing, do one element at a time. Save and publish. That way, if there is an incompatable code somewhere, you will discover it.

                    you're welcome

Whenever you add anything using html - make sure you add it correctly - and don't miss any tags - or strange things (as you saw) can happen :)

Your question and the answers you've received here give me encouragement in trying again to fix the spacing on my index page. Thanks for asking about it and thanks to you guys giving suggestions. I'm off to follow the advice to see what happens. I, too, think it is a html code problem so here I go...wish me luck.
