Edit menu items - blank, self, parent or top

Hello,
I just have another nagging question. I have used the edit menu but have left the target area empty not selecting the optional blank, self, parent or top. Is that correct or should I change the lot to one of the choices?

Hi, leave empty for the page to work normal.
