  • Page Size Questions

    Hello,

I am having problems with my page size...I have the width set at 800 and height set at 1020 but when you view it you have to scroll to the right in order for it to be center...could anyone give me a suggestion on how to fix it so everyone will not have to scroll over????

    Thanx a bunch,

    Hi cafraley:

The first thing that hits my head is the little check box underneath the spot where you set the width and height. It says to check it for centering the page. I'm sure that's too simple to be the complete answer to your problem but may be a starting place.

When you build your site you build it tight to the top and the left, right? Then, if you set it at 800 wide and tick the center box it should be nice and centered
Is that what you are doing?

First, it looks like the only thing that may be too wide is your header.
            Is ist 800 exactly?

              Liz,

I made the banner shorter and thinner but you still have to scroll over.

                Re: Page Size Questions

When you set your width at 800, you have to build the whole deal within that width, with nothing over past your 800 mark on the little ruler thing. You balance your page off of the middle of the 800 width, not off what you see on your screen, so that the 400 mark will be your center when you view the page. Follow?
If you do this (and you have ticked the center box in page properties) then it all will be centered, and there will be no side scroll.
It will look off center in your build screen, but will center in your preview and when you publish

                    Re: Page Size Questions

Hi, your banner/shape at the top of the page is 1008 wide & wants to be smaller. Personally I would say just under 800!
This should enable you to shrink your page. Also I am not sure you style of menu will fit in the 800 area. It maybe a bit wide also.
Not sure if you have yours set, but enabling your guides will help & give you a dotted line of the area you can work within.
To enable this, choose from the menu. Layout/Guide settings/ & make sure the “show guide boarders” is ticked.
                    Regards Chris.

                      Hi Connie
I did you a banner that is the same but smaller. I reproduced your page so that you can get an idea what it will look like.
The banner is at the bottom of the page if you want to download and use it.
The page is 800 width and you will have to move things down a bit to fit in the menu.

Its not a template. I took a screenshot of your page and stuck the logo on it just to see what it looked like. Just right click on the logo at the bottom of the page and 'save as' and put it in a folder then upload it to your site through the site builder just like you did your handbag pics.
