    Another disable right click question

    Hi folks

    I searched the forums today and read all the threads on the pros and cons of the disable script. I still want to go ahead and use the script on one of my pages. I saw Alien's script and Vasili's instructions - which worked fine for images.

    My situation is that I want to disable the right click on a hyperlink to prevent someone from saving the target file - in this case MP3's. I want them to be able to stream only.

    The page in question: www.houseoftracks.com/downloads.html

    Can anyonme help?

    House of tracks-

    Found this;

    Have not used it but thought I'd pass it along.

    Otherwise- this may be what you are looknig for;

    Keep in mind- there are lots of scripts out there. So feel free to search if you don't like these.

      Just to let you know if you just have links to your mp3's that isn't steaming, and disabling right click on a link isn't going to prevent them from stealing your mp3's.

      Regardless, disabling right click on the entire page will disable them from right clicking on a link. You can probably assign a unique id to each link have it check for each id instead of the entire document

          Even if you disable the right click, to hear the mp3 it downloads on your computer to tempfiles.. just load it up in windows sound recorder and save it.. your right click wont stop anyone savvy with mp3 or any other type file from stealing it if thats what they want to do.

                Re: Another disable right click question

                I have to agree with Karen on this one. There is absolutely NO WAY to completely deter people from ripping your audio or video from a viewable webpage. YouTube tried it. Guess what. Several rip programs exist that will basically re-record it.

                Disabling Right-Click is fine to deter 25% of the population. The other 75% might just take it as a challenge. People who are used to video viewing and audio listening are pretty savvy when it comes to how to save it.
