    Can someone help me?

Hi I just published my website and everything went smooth (Boy was I surprised since it's my first try) But I have a navigation bar on some of the pages that when pressed is supposed to go to an html file from my computer. The button worked on the test browser but does not work on the published site.

Here's one of the pages from my site. It is supposed to show a pedigree when you press pedigree.

Hi, you will have to upload this page via ftp & then link to it. I assume it is another style of web page or word document that is now in html, or something similar. ?

I don't know what else to do, I watched the tutorial and followed the directions, but it's still not working. I'm missing something somewhere.

If you want a file to download when someone clicks on your button put the file onto the server and point the link to it.
Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally.

What type of file is it? PDF..Word Doc...Excel....??? or if you have concerted it to an html file what is the full name?
You must load this file to your public_html directory (folder) on your site. DO this by using the Blue FTP. Merely drag the folder for the left window (while having the FTP window open.) to the public_html directory (folder).
Lets say that you saved a Word Document as "pedigree.doc" (no quotes).
Your link would then be www.yourwebsite.com/pedigree.doc
If you saved your Word document as an html file you will still need to drag/transfer it to your public_html directory. You link would then be
            www.yourwebsite.com/pedigree.html

            Good luck

              Attn Carbon Terry,
It's nice to see someone like you give a proper answer to question, instead of "one liners" that don't take into account the person with a problem is a Newbie. I'm a newbie myself and fairly well versed on the general run of using BV although I'm yet to actually publish a site. I follow the forum closely and see far too many answers given without consideration of how it's going to be understood according to level of experience (or language problems) of the seeker. (More interseted in climbing military rankings I wonder??? ) An answer like yours given in the first instance would have resolved the problem sooner, eh!

              Attn Deepcreekigs.
I'm sure you'll recognise where you were going wrong now. If I'd have been available at the time of your question, I would have given you exactly what Carbon Terry has given. I looked through your site and enjoyed it. I wasn't looking at it to offer advice though, so i haven't any contributions that way.

              Regards,
              Rick

Hi, the reason a lot of questions are answered with one liners is that many of the tutorials cover the answer in a lot more depth & saves everyone a lot of typing. This may be one of the reasons they are there.
No question can be answered if the full details are not given to what someone would like to know.
Thats why the forum has a post on how to post a question. LINK
Once this is established then a more in depth answer can be given.
Which bring me to Snide comment left by yourself that will not be appreciated by the 99% of helper's that give up there time & help freely on this forum.

                Enjoy!

Ps, Sorry to bring this up on your post deepcreekigs.
This is in no way any reflection on your self.
                Good luck with the site.
                Regards Chris.

                  Re: Can someone help me?

I confess that this morning i was posting something similar as Collectors Info. Then i just happened to have work and cancelled. The content was the same. If there is a tutorial that explains in depth the desired tasks, the best thing to do is to direct the poster there.

George is correct and please, no criticism of others. I could have posted the link to the tutorial also but chose to be a little more personal as I had the time and remember what it is like to be a newbie (not very long ago for myself !!).
That being said, the tutorials area great place to browse for answers to questions. You may have to watch them several times but it will be worthwhile.
                    Have fun everyone.
