Most current BV version

What's the most current version of BV being used?

I started working with this quite a while back, and stopped for maybe a year?

If there's a better version out than what I'm currently using, do I just remove the current version I'm using from my computer & download the new one? I won't lose any work?

I'm primarily interested in photo/img displays... is it gray/grey box now?
