Best color combinations- Ideas Needed?

Okay

This may sound like a strange question but what are the best combinations for text/background.

I am blind in one eye and have a certain type of colorblind in the other eye. Every time I put together a combination and ask people about them I get some strange responses.

Therefore, I am trying to get idea of what works and what doesn't

For example I tried green/lavendar- it didn't seem to go down well. It look good to me, but then since I see colors at different hues than others who knows.

I am open to any ideas. Thanks in advance.

For color blindness, green and red together is a no go. The basic rule is to uese light text on dark barkground or dark text on light background. Here is some study material you may find interesting and useful. Click here.

If you want to be safe - stick with a white background and black text. You can't go wrong.
