  • What constitutes "content"?

    In absolute terms what constitutes "content" - especially from the Search Engines' point of view?

      If the Search Engines "don't see" pictures, images, etc. do those still count as "content"?

        Hi

        As said above, everything on your site is content.

        Search engines can read the alternative text attribute on images - and images can also be searched by web users (eg. google image search)

        With written content you can target your best key phrases on each page, so it's very useful.

          The SE's certainly see images & should be name well & correctly with a good reference on the alt tag. (I often search by image).
          IE:<img src="Rowing-boat.jpg " alt="Blue 4 meter rowing boat">
          & not,
          <img src="boat1.jpg" alt="boat1(100x125)tn">

            And don't expect to show up in image searches if you don't have alt text and names to the images so that the se's can find the image.

            Contect, as stated, is everything on the site. You specifically asked about content for the se's - that is, basically, the written word - so the text on the pages, the names of images, the alt information on images.

              Thank you, all.

              Fog is clearing.

              How do I name a picture?

              (Apart from what appears in "Filename").

              Thanks, again.
