Back up to external hard drive

I need to restore my PC back to factory settings and therefore need to copy all pages of the site to an external hard drive first.
Not sure what folders etc I need to copy over.
    Concerned in not losing any.

    Help please

Re: Back up to external hard drive

I can help you there, have had to restore 3 times in two months.

Depending on the operating system you are using this will differ very slightly.

You will need to copy all the BV page files (your web-page files), the photos & images that you have used.

I have Windows Vista so my files are stored in C:\user\admin\documents\BlueVoda

The best thing to do is copy the entire BV directory. This way you have all the files, BV back ups, template (you may have installed) and images are copied.

If you changed where you want BV to store your files or can not find the BV folder....

Open BV ==> click Tool in the menu bar ==> click options ==> in the options dialog box click the Folders tab.

here you see where the documents & back-ups are stored.

Find your documents folder, look for the BV folder and copy it.

If your back-ups are not in the same place, find them & copy them as well.

Find your pixtures folder or wherever you have you rimages and copy those.

    You are done!

Keep in mind that when you reinstall that all the images in your pages will have broken links and they will have to be manually reconnected.

That means you will have to basicly add all the pics again! One by one.

Hi. Thanks again. That is upsetting, as the site has about 60 pics.

O well, something to do on Sunday I suppose.
