Are websites supposed to have a Site Map?

I never knew that a website needed a site map and I was just curious how crucial this is to a website.

It is up to you.

It makes it easier for visitors to search for what thry are looking for when the website is a large one.

Some websites the way they are designed and laid out are merry go rounds.
