error while importing html

I try to import my pages with File/New page/From existing html pgae, but I only get "error while importing html"

Please help.

Is it defiantly a html page & possibly not a php page?.

Most of the pages are html. I want to download all my site to be able to edit the pages as BV does not show any text in the tabs Start of page, Between head tag etc.

Have you got the site address? And not sure why you are downloading the pages you should already have?

I have the pages locally on my computer, but I cannot edit them.

I have already downloaded them using FTP.
