    New HD = Sites Lost??

I just recently had to have a new hard drive installed on my computer. After I reinstalled BV, and put all my BV documents into My Documents, none of my websites is showing up online!

Also, on the pages that I've built, I have the "evil red X" box where all my images are. I have all the images backed up onto a CD, but should they be kept on their own personal external hard drive instead?

Any help would be greatly appreciated regarding my sites not showing up. My major retail online webstore has over 200 pages!

Re: Huge problem . . . Help Needed!

All your sites are there, but your browser may not be connecting properly.

    1. You'll have to troubleshoot on your end to figure out why your system is not connecting ... everything from resetting your modem to flushing your DNS cache. TIPS HERE

    2. You will have to manually 're-insert' the images from your Blue Voda Images folder onto each of the pages and re-publish in order to re-associate the file paths to get your BV page files to display properly on your new system.

Re: New Drive - Sites Lost??

Thank you for the quick response. I was in a bit of a panic mode. I knew the sites were there last night. Strange thing is I can't even pull them up on my laptop, and I could see them there before as well.

I will take your suggestions and give them a try when I get home tonight.

P.S. I did check the sites from my work computer and they are showing up there!

Re: New Drive - Sites Lost??

        FYI

Most of the time when things like this happen after installing a new drive or breaking in a new system is simply that the new 'device' has to 'learn' everything you expect it to already know ... in other words, it has to hard-configure the settings, paths, and even 'destinations' it is being directed to display. This is especially true for browsers and all online apps.

Try making sure you can connect to www.Google.com first, since this is a true 'soft landing' for any browser (it was designed to be a default URL and to supercede any other). Once on Google, type in your site's URL in true from: cust-m-cartoons.com
Then use the returned result to link to the site for the first time, allowing your browser to load a Temp Page cleanly, but be sure to spend some time on your site's index page for it to fully register both for the browser and for Google (which always tracks your visit patterns as part of their metrics) before Adding To Favorites in your browser. Do this for each of your sites: new Google Search for the URL, Add To Favorties.

If, as you say, this is happening to both systems on your home Network, however, it most likely is a connection issue after all, and you would do best to 'refresh' your Network along the lines of the methods offered in the Tips I offered. But, if you do this, follow-up by once again "teaching" your browser as described above, as you need to 'keep' the Temp Pages and URL's you establish .....

Yes! Everything seems to be corrected - thank you so much! Now I just have to undergo the tedious job of finding all my images and putting them in ONE place.
