Password protection of certain pages

OK, so I followed all the instructions have this tutorial BV’s new built in Login system – a brief tutorial.

aving a problem after trying to login or create new user -- getting a 404 message

Two questions - the instructions say that ALL files must have the PHP extension -- BV publishes all files with HTML
how do I get around that??
Does that include other pages that are not login protected??

OK, I figured out that the PHP file extension must be on all files that are running the login windows but not the other pages
on my website that are not password protected.
I also figured out how to publish the files as PHP instead of HTML
Slow, but I am getting there.
Still occasionally getting a 404 error message but will work on it
