subdomains html code help

hi guys im not sure if this is the right spot for asking this type of question but what the hell i will ask it. any help will be more than welcome.

i need to know if subdomains have the same chance to score well in the search engines as the main domains do.

what are the differences between sub and main domains? do they have different privileges or is it the same thing? thanks for the help guys
