Install simple form page for navaldesign

    Hi navaldesign and other members,

I'm a very green new member. David recomended that I use navaldesign's advanced form wizard. I should assume the sticky by navaldesign is about that advanced form wizard?

I could spend hours searching through every feature of the advanced tool.
My site is intended to be quite simple.
My idea for my form page is only that readers have the ability to comment on the story that the website is about.

I don't want their address, phone number, etc., only to be able to read and save or delete/block their response and their name and e-mail address to I can respond to them.

David also recomended that I install a captcha. Just a simple one on the form/comment page I believe would be sufficient.

    For now that's it.

Am I not doing sufficient homework by asking if there's a simple 1,2,3,4 etc. way to do this simple form page?

    Thanks navaldesign and team,

    Shoemaker

there is an easy form wizard as one of the tools. i dont think you can get anything easier than this to set up a form. as i understand you only want comments sent to you. if so that is where to go.

Thanks mr magoo. I've studied that and have a page partially constructed. Where my question really focuses is successfully adding a captcha to it. In another post I mentioned that I had investigated ReCaptcha and asked if it was good. David suggested the advanced form wizard of navaldesign. For the next two weeks I'm stuck with dialup and can hardly view a tutorial. That's why I asked if there was a simple 1,2,3 process. Thanks, Shoemaker

Installing a captcha will have no effect if the form processor isn't capable of checking the captcha value.

The Form wizard built in form processor can't do that. So, as David suggested, you should
          1. Install ABVFP
          2. Point your form action to ABVFP
          3. Copy / paste the captcha part from the ABVFP example form into your own form.

Question on captcha , I cut and pasted it from ABVFP, the letters and numbers shown are not required for my form to be sent, It will send with just any value inserted.( my contact us page)
Can some one guide me? And thank you to all who have helped me with other question

You can't use a captcha with a form processor hat does NOT support captcha.

You need to process your form with ABVFP to be able to use ABVFP's captcha.

If you look three posts above, you will see the exactly same answer.

Re: Install simple form page for navaldesign

No, that's not waht i mean. Let me explain:

The captcha works this way: the user fills in the captcha field, and in the same time the script sets a value in the computer memory.
When the form is dubmitted, the form processor compares the two values to see if they are the same.

If the form processor can NOT do this, using a captcha in your form is useless. And your form is NOT processed by ABVFP, you only have the captcha which you took from ABVFP. But the form itself is processed by the built in form processor which doesn't have the ability to check the captcha values.
As i said, you need to INSTALL ABVFP and process the form with it.
