making field compulsory

Created my form and it works fine.

My question is:

All I require is visitor to insert email address and then
they are redirected to chosen page BUT.....

How do I make it so the email section of form
is compulsory..that is if they do not fill it in
they can not go to next page.

At the moment if they click the "SUBMIT" button
without inputting email address they can still be taken
to page.

Double click the field (text area) and then click the validation tab in the properties window then fill in the values there is a choice for email in the drop down list.

I have done that several times but for some unknown reason
it does not make the field compulsory.

Don't know why!

I found the Problem.
Always something so simple.

Those creating a form, here was the problem I had.

I named the form but I had placed a space in the name,

Like this EG: my new form
it should NOT have spaces so I changed it to
mynewform

Once done everything worked fine.
so be careful.
