Mail from forms ends as junk in Hotmail

I have made a form and have checked to see that they arrive. They are being sent to a hotmail account so they end up in the junk mail folder (since they are sent on behalf of someone). The person administrating these mails uses outlook to receive the mails from the Hotmail account. By default Hotmail does not forward junk mail but leaves it on the server for 10 days before it is deleted. The sender of the mail from the contact form is in the format: <img id="P___1162466160" webimdisplaystyle="inline" style="display: none;"> guptskkl@voda22.voda22.com on behalf of zzzzz@ hotmail .com . (zzzzz is put in place of a valid hotmail account)

I have tried putting the domain @voda22.voda22.com and the hotmail domain on the safe sender list in hotmail. I have also tried with the 2 accounts mentioned. Hotmail does not accept the full "xxxxx@voda22.voda22.com on behalf of zzzzz@ hotmail .com" . Nothing seems to help. It ends up in the junk mail folder. One option would be to forward all junk email to outlook - but that is my last option.

Does anyone have other ideas for how to get the contact mails to outlook ?

Is the visitor's email field named "email" ?

Pls note that if you are testing the form with hotmail, using the same email address as sender AND as recipient (visitor and admninstrator) Hotmail will anyway classify it as spamm (Yahoo also).

The email address that is filled in on the form by the user is not the same as the one it is sent to. I have tried with 2 different hotmail addresses, I have tried with the user filling in a gmail address and with the user filling in an online.no address. All of them end up as junk mail.

I have tried placing the code on 2 different servers - one at vodahost and one at OVH. Same result.

The field is called "Email" and is data type = Email address. ( You can see it at http://www.christie-sculptures.com/contact.php or http://www.hangarart.org/christie/contact.php )

Then we have probably discovered your issue. the field must be named "email" all lowercase chrs.

When ANYTHING else (like "Email") is used, the script replaces the value (the visitor's email) with your Admin email address, and this is (see my post above) the same as the Admin's email, thus resulting as spam for Hotmail, Yahoo, AOL and Comcast.

I did as you suggested - small e in email and it didn't work it came into my hotmail junk mail. I was at the point where I was going to give up and send all my junk mail to outlook. I coded in the hotmail address that will be used when the site goes live. This is a hotmail.fr address - and for some strange reason it's working as it should.

The problem is solved - so thanks for the help - but I'm still curious as to why it ended as junk in my hotmail.com test account.

As I said, if the same email address is used as Admin email and visitor email Hotmail considers it spam.

Until you had "Email" they were the same (because the script does this)

Then you changed it to "email" but probably used the same email address again, so it was considered spam again.

When you changed the admin email address, did you use a different one as visitor ?

Visitor = info@villaduparc.info Form = ckschou********.com
Result: Spam

Visitor = info@villaduparc.info Form = ckschou********.fr
Result: Not Spam

And the only change I have done is to publish the form with the new email. That's why its a mystery. I guess hotmail.fr just works differently.

Once again thanks for enlightening me about how the script works. My problem is solved although the mystery remains.

I always suggest that you use as admin email, one within your own domain, in which case the mail can be received in your webmail, and also in your desktop through outlook Express.
