    Hi Folks,

I have created a form which ideally needs to send the information to MySQl datbase.

I have treid to create a seperate Form ID and form number but no success.

Your inputs here would be valued.
    Kind Regards

Re: Form not linking to MySQL database

I'm not sure how you have connected it to your database ??

I mean, the built in form processor can't store data in a MySQL DB table, only ABVFP can, but you are not using ABVFP here.....

Re: Form not linking to MySQL database

        Rob,

sending data from the form to the database isa function of the form processor.
The form processor receives the data and does whatever it is set (and can) do.

It seems that for this form, you have used the built in form processor, which dos NOT have the ability to store data in a database, as ABVFP can.

            Rob,

the form I had built for you used ABVFP as the processing script. In this form instead, you have used the built in form processor.

You need to read the instructions on how to use ABVFP to process your forms.

Please could you advise me how I get back to the processing portion of ABVFP that I may try do it the way suggested in you tutorial.

                  Hi George,

I have now gone throught the process using ABVFP.

I have adjusted my query to pint to the correct form howvevr the result is still the same - the information is not being recieved and stored in th e MySQL database.

The entry form can be tested at this link

The result should be seen at this link

If you require any further details or information please let me know

Rob, you have your form action STILL to be the built in form processor. You need to change the action of the form to point to ABVFP.

                      Thanks for the reply.

                      I am feeling quite stupid.

I have processed the form using ABVFP.

If I understand you correctly you are saying the entryform needs to point to the ABVFP. In other words some reference needs to be made on the entry form so that it knows to go to ABVFP?

If this be the case please offer some guidance as to how I do that?
                      Kind Regards

Re: Form not linking to MySQL database

Wouldn't it be easier if you gave the ABVFP instructions a read ?

It is all explained there how you can process your form with ABVFP. Repeating it here is just too time consuming.

Download the ABVFP zip, and open the "Tutorial" to see how to use ABVFP and configure your form.

Re: Form not linking to MySQL database

                          Hi George,

I have a hard copy of the document in front of me and have written notes to it as I have progressed with you in the past.

The section: "Setting up your form correctly" is very informative.

In trying to "point" I understand you mean the part "Action - Method - Encoding Type" needs to be correct.

If I understand incorrectly - please advise?

If I am correct - I have followed this process to the later with the rsult causing me to enquire.

Really not trying to waste anyones time here but only trying to learn to do it right.

Yes, I meant the action and the encoding type. It now seems to be correct.
