Guestbook Spam emails with Captcha enabled

Hello, I started receiving a lot of spam on my php guestbook, so I enabled Captcha. That effectively stopped spam postings from showing up in my guestbook, but it did not stop e-mail notifications every time someone attempts to leave spam. So, even though the posts are not showing up, I'm still receiving many many email notifications. I do want email notifications for legitimate posters. How do I stop this? Email notifications are either ON or OFF, but Guestbook does not include any filters to discern between TYPES of email Notifications.
