hyperlinks newbie

I have been looking on the boards and not have found anything to help me. i feel so lame ok heres the deal. i want to link my pages together. I have named the page i want to link to my index page shannonerheabio and saved it with the html extension. I then published it. then I went to my index page and tryed to create a text link so it would open up my bio. however when you click it it say page can not be found. what am i doing wrong
