Links that work, stop working, and re-work again...

    Dear VH Forum.

    I am stuck.

I created links (correctly, I guess, since they work),
saved my pages (either with "php" or with "html" extensions),
    published them...

    I clicked on my website's button-links,
    everything was smooth and cool...

But as Ed, one of our generals, stated,
my links get "confused/troubled", to say the least,
once you begin clicking "randomly", once on that button,
once on this one, and back on that one, well, it messes up.

The infamous "404 error" message appears !

Once you have my links working, then, you do not...
It depends on our "clicking-behaviour"/"clicking-tempo/rythm" on the website...

Please, what should I do to overcome this ?

Re: Links that work, stop working, and re-work again...

Perhaps is this trouble related to
the fact that I didn't use any ruler/guide
in the placing of these button-links ?

    Whatever the cause,
I didn't succeed in "making it all come together"...

Still, I don't understand why all pages do appear
when clicking "normally", on every button linking to them...

    (It's not a publishing problem, I'm certain.
Otherwise, certain, if not all, of these pages
wouldn't appear, was it even once.)

    I'm puzzled.

Well, I hate to be the purveyor of bad news...but...

Believe it or not, your links are messed up. For example, on your Home page the "Claim Your Caricature" button links to "claim_your_caricature_order.php" which exists and works. But on your "free_caricatures.html" page, the SAME button links to "claim_your_caricature.php" which does NOT exist.

All you have to do is make sure all the buttons refer to the correct pages. I know, you've heard this before...but it is the problem. Do what I've been doing on my site today as I redesign it: use a pencil and paper to write down what the pages are named and what links go to what page.

      Keep at it!

You will have to go into every page, every link to correct them. You are getting confused in that when you fix one link on one page they all do not change. As Tom said write down each link exactly as it should be then when you go to each one you can easily see it, it would probably be best to just type the correct URL into each and every link.

Just so you know all your links on your home page work so fix the links on the other pages to match those on your home page.

Thank you VERY MUCH for this precious help of yours, guys.

I thought I overcame this problem once,
and thought that my publishing was now OK,
                  and finally, with this problem,
I thought it was a problem of linking my pages together
                  (since they're all published)...

                  Well, well, well,
                  02:59 am here,
                  and still work to do.

I'll type "link checker" in the search tool.

Since all of my home page links do work well,
I let that home page open in BV,
and every other page is checked out accordingly to the home page.

How much time do I have to wait, so that these linking changes occur ?

I am asking this, because I typed the working URL
from my home page into a page where the links don't work,
saved, published anew, and yet, nothing changes...

Perhaps am I making another mistake somewhere, unconsciously ?

                              EDIT :
Correct me if I am wrong,
but the sole remaining non-working links
are in the "LOWEST Prices..." page.

I do not succeed in having them working on that page only.
