        well that depends on what you want the visitor to do. let's say you create a link that brings the visitor away from your site, then you would want to use the blank option as the link will open in a new window, leaving the visitor with 2 windows, one with your site and the other with the new/outside site. if you want to link a visitor to a page within your own site, like from home to about us and you have the same navigation bar in the about us page then you would use the self option as the visitor only needs to use one window.
