linking a word document

I'm trying to have a link for download a word document. I uploaded the file to my cPanel (to the correct folder), but I don't seem to be able to download it. What is the correct hyperlink address I need to use? or, do I need to do anything else/different?

The address would be

http://www.yoursitename.com/nameofdocument.doc or .docx

But you may run in to problems if your visitor doesn't haven't have word installed on their PC or if their version of Word is an older version of yours.

Best to convert the document to PDF which is more universably accepted on the web and the visitor can get a FREE reader from Adobe

I did the above, and tried to download it on my own computer, and it didn't work. Any other ideas?

I'd rather keep it as a doc because for this particular site I have HS kids that would try to download this document, and they may not have adobe on their computer.

So you were able to see the document? I wonder why I can't, but thank you so much for making sure! Can you let me know if it shows 3 pages? I just changed the document, and that's what I was trying to make sure that works.
