    publishing help requested

I've been a customer for 18 months and have successfully published several websites using Blue Voda in the past. Now I'm stuck and I don't know why.

domain is kellisenterprises.com, but I don't publishing anything there. It was a catchall name for the various sites I publish as subdomains. Okay. so here's the dilema.

I was reworking one of my subdomains http://www.TheScentOfSuccess.com
and a few of the pages showed a 404 error after successfully publishing.

    Another subdomain- http://www.PutYourNoseInMyBusiness.com
The index uploaded perfectly, but for the 5 subsequent pages- a 404 error

    Another subdomain- http://www.MenLoveMiaBella.com
I'm getting an index directory after 'successfully publishing'.

I am not doing anything different than I did in the past to publish.
    I'm uploading to public_html/theexactsubdomainname

Your help would be so apreciated! TIA

    Re: Publishing Problems....aghhhh

I've got the menlovemiabella index published correctly now. I had forgotten to rename it 'index' before publishing!

Still getting 404's on the rest of the pages that go with those last two subdomains.

Please provide the urls of the pages that are showing 404 errors. I am pretty sure that you created your hyperlinks wrong.

Hi, you are not doing you links right in the step1/ step2 & so on.

Should look like the one above, with .html on the end.

I have a question, I am using BlueVoda to publish and I noticed that it published my initial index page as index.html and not index.htm. Is there a default file name setting in BlueVoda that I must set to force it to .htm file names?

Thanks for that info. Is the default page for a site index.htm or index.html? I worked throught the initial problem by renaming the .html file blue voda published to .htm and my page showed up.

                Thanks,

                Rick

                  Re: publishing help requested

                  Hello Tricky Ricky ...

The default page for your website is your domain name ...

                  e.g. http://www.yourdomainname.com

Your first page you publish, should be called index, saved as index, published as index and found by typing in http://www.yourdomainname.com

All your next pages can be named anything you like. Everything is in small letters, no separation unless the words are joined together with _

If your second page is called *****s, you would save as *****s, publish as *****s, and it would be found as http://www.yourdomainname.com/*****s.html

The Blue Voda website builder automatically converts these pages to .html

You do not add that to the page you are publishing - you only add that if you are linking to that page or retrieving that page ...

                  Publish only as *****s

                  Hope this helps....

P.S. Your affiliate banner is showing in my browser - appears you have this working ....

                    Goodafternoon LadyEye

Ok on that, but what I meant to say was is the default page index.htm or index.html?

I corrected the problem by renaming the file published by BV from index.html (which included the banner ad) to index.htm. It was not until after I did this that my initial page came up in the browser and up until then, all that I saw was the root file list.

It is not important. Apache servers will look for index.html. then index.htm then index.php in that order. It will accept as index page whichever of the three it finds first. If it doesn't work for you, it means that there is something changed with your site configuaretion file, or the files permissions. You should submit a support ticket. What is the URL ?
